Daily Life … and Laundry
The children are doing well and continuing to thrive in school. Their energy and joy bring life to the home, and we’re so proud of their growth. On the farm, things are steady as we transition into the dry season (please see our photo of the maize growth!). We’ll now get to see how well our recently installed water tank storage system holds up during this time—thank you to all who made that possible!

The gas station and convenience store are running smoothly, continuing to bring in modest income and provide hands-on work experience for older youth.

The children have chores, which includes doing their own laundry using water from our pond.

We’re enclosing photos of them using their wash basins on this task. This is part of their rhythm of life at home. The water tanks, filled with rainwater, are reserved for drinking and cooking.

Job Skill TrainingWe are thrilled to share news about some of our older youth who have chosen to pursue vocational paths. We believe these choices will help them with long-term stability and independence once they age out of our home. For example, several young ladies are in sewing and tailoring apprenticeships this year. They are learning valuable skills! In addition, one of our teens has begun beauty school which is a wonderful opportunity to develop a creative and marketable profession. Please see the photos here.

Financial Transfer Challenges
We encountered issues recently when trying to transfer the funds for the current school term. Western Union flagged and delayed the transaction, and Betty Bartholomew has worked tirelessly to explain that she is not being hacked by someone abroad. We ask for your prayers as we search for a better, more stable way to send money from the U.S. to Kenya. One of our key goals for the upcoming mission trip is to open a new and different type of bank account in Kenya to help us carry out our mission more efficiently.

Upcoming Mission Trip
We are so excited for Betty and Avis’s upcoming trip to Kenya! They depart on July 9 and will stay for more than five weeks. Their time will be filled with love, connection, support, and hands-on work with the children and staff. We humbly ask for your prayers for their safety, the success of their mission, and for all the children, Washington and his family, and the dedicated volunteers who help make this ministry possible.

PLEASE HELP US finish their Amazon wish lists with items they will pack and take to the kids!
