SO MUCH to share from the trip … stay tuned for more in September’s letter!

1. Fruitful Mission Trip
Our fearless trio of women, Avis, Betty, and Cricket, have been in Kenya for about a month; and Avis flies to the USA on August 31, with Betty and Cricket following a few days later. Please pray their travels are smooth! They have been preaching and teaching, connecting with the kids, spending time helping widows, completing many property improvements, and so much more. The trip began outside Nairobi where Cricket and Betty taught teenagers, and Avis preached …

While these efforts depend on donations, the prayers prayed for the Mission Team have been keeping them uplifted too. They have all been sick on the trip but saw SO many goals met they set out to accomplish. Thank you for praying!

2. The Joy of Giving
Thank you, donors, for allowing us to spread joy by giving to the kids in our care in Kenya! WOW, it was so much fun to share: new shoes, new clothes, and candy!

Many girls received new dresses; below see them wearing them on Sunday!

Lined up for candy!

3. Special Dinners

Like last year’s trip, the mission team spent several evenings having small group dinners with the kids of about 14-16 per meal. This intentional time is for building real relationships with each individual child and understanding their past, present, and future. The kids were just “over the moon” having dinner with the ladies, and eating “what we eat”. They say the meals are “like a dream.” Cricket found out “kids aren’t supposed to talk at the table” after spending much time working to get kids to share and talk at the first dinner! Here is one moment from a small group dinner enjoying yogurt.

4. POOL Outing
A bus was hired and the kids were taken to a local hotel pool to enjoy! For any kids who have been with us less than a few years, this may have been  their first time in a pool; and for others growing up with us, it has been some years. What fun to truly BE A KID and have carefree time splashing in water! Even riding on a bus is an experience.

AND ONE MORE THING!

We have 2 of our high school graduates who were accepted into university and wish to start nursing programs in September. Please be praying if you would like to sponsor 1 of these college educations, and we will have cost in the coming newsletter. They are working on enrolling as we speak! Talk about a life changed … from orphaned or abandoned to a nurse with a bright future ahead … we hope to enable this for them!
